I recently spotted a question over on SpiceWorks regarding the Thecus N2800 and the amount of noise that it generates. From the original post:
I have seen good reviews on the overall build and net speed of the Thecus N2800 NAS, but a single review has put strong emphasis on its high noise. I have read that the Synlogy DS212+ has a similar feature set but is much quieter.
The review the poster mentioned might be about the Bit-Tech review I posted on previously - at least it's the only one I remember spotting that singled out the N2800 for noise. Personally I've never had any real trouble with noise from Thecus models, but then I generally keep my network attached storage in a room that already has a fair amount of background noise from the other electronics I've got running in there. Just something to think about if you've been considering the N2800.
